Timber-framed house

Construction of a residential timber-framed family home with jaccuzzi

St-saphorin-sur-morge district

Harmonising the building with the surrounding landscape

This thoroughly contemporary project is made up of two habitable levels, mostly given over to living space. It is located in a residential neighbourhood.

Influenced by colonial architecture, with large verandas sheltered from inclement weather, the choice of construction decided on was a timber-framed structure with exterior cladding in strips of "red cedar", and internal panelling with strips of factory-painted pine.

This project is organised horizontally south/north by level, at the centre of the volume, the day area (kitchen, dining and living room, office and shower room) upstairs, the sleeping areas (4 bedrooms, 1 dressing room and 2 wet rooms), and in the basement, service rooms, the cellar and the utility room.

The idea was to maximise useful areas and to minimise adjoining areas, while favouring the relationship between the day area on the ground floor and the private areas to allow for family evolution and development upstairs.

Integration within the site

The integration within this site takes account of the special environment of the plot located in an area of greenery to the east, west and north, and urbanised to the south (low-density area).

Environmental impact

During the construction of the various parts of the buildings, the criteria for sustainable developmenthas been respected.

The materials used for the building's construction have been chosen in order to limit the environmental impact. Grey energy has been taken into account for each material, and an impact evaluation has had an appropriate influence on the choice of these materials.

Priority has been given to insulation that is natural(rockwool) or based on recycled materials.

Energy production

Heating is provided by an air-water heat pump. Thermal solar panels ensure the supply of domestic hot water.
