Integration within this site needs to take account of the exceptional environment, and of the location of passing traffic linked with the A9 motorway.
The choice of materials and colours allows the exterior cladding of the two buildings to respect the harmony with the natural landscape, and environmental principles.
The building comprises facades broken up in wood which allow this site's natural character to be valued and recalled. In fact, the natural wood facades (larch) change over time according to the effects of the weather, good or bad.
The building's visual impact is very limited because the current location has been treated with respect.
Thus the buildings' aspects have been preserved, and these characteristics have been exploited to maximum effect in order to achieve MINERGIE-certified buildings, close to MINERGIE P ECO.
The canopies are subtly integrated into the project through their wooden cladding, giving the same aspect as the adjacent commercial properties.
When demolishing the current buildings and constructing the new ones, sustainable development criteria have been adhered to.
The management of the demolition has been exemplary in terms of the treatment of the various types of waste.
The materials used for the building's construction were chosen in order to limit the environmental impact of this construction work. The grey energy of each material is taken into account, and an evaluation of its impact has had an appropriate influence on the choice of that material.
The wood that has been used is certified as of Swiss origin.
The building's structure is of metal, a material which can be recycled indefinitely.
Priority will be given to insulation that is natural (rockwool) or made from recycled materials (foam glass).
In order to minimise the unwanted occupation of public areas (as was the case with the previous building), these have been integrated with the new buildings, access to the toilets being via the interior of the "shop". However, a toilet block remains available outside the main building's opening hours, and is accessible from the outside.
